Ryedale School was opened in 1953 and is now a mixed comprehensive community school of approximately 600 pupils. The children, who come to us at the age of eleven from nine partner Primary schools, are fortunate to live in an area of great scenic beauty, embracing the western end of the Vale of Pickering and part of the North York Moors.
Ours is a small, friendly school which provides a secure, stable framework in which pupils can grow academically and socially. In educating pupils for the twenty-first century, we endeavor to combine the teaching of up-to-date skills and knowledge with the transmission of traditional values such as consideration and honesty. It is our intention that Ryedale pupils are prepared both for life and work in a rapidly-changing technological society, and to take their place as responsible members of a caring community.
There is a strong partnership between pupils, parents, staff and governors who work together to provide a wide range of opportunities and ensure appropriate access to them. A strong and resourceful Parent Teacher Association have significantly enhanced many areas of school life. The Governors have increased classroom accommodation through self help projects. The partnership endeavors to provide the best environment in which pupils can flourish.
"The school works very well in partnership with parents, who in turn are very supportive of the school." OFSTED December 2001 |
